A Psychic's Guide to Embracing the Halloween Season
Do you feel it? Do you see it? So much energy swirling this time of year. I’ve been tracking the shifts for the last few weeks, and we keep getting deeper and deeper into the swirl.
This time, now, the few days before Halloween, Samhain, Dia de Los Muertos, is high time when the veils between dimensions is so thin that they sometimes seem invisible to me.
Awareness of being here on this planet while also venturing energetically to other dimensions and communicating with spirits/ghosts/beings from other realms is…. DISTRACTING.
I need to work to keep myself rooted on this planet, while allowing whatever growth experience that is intended for me the space to also come through. As Johnny Cash once famously sang “I Walk the Line” and I can say that I feel that vibe in my own way this time of year, and I do a few extra things to help me stay grounded.
Consciously create a grounding chord from my first chakra to the center of the planet.
Check in on the health of my aura as it creates a natural boundary that helps keep me protected in my space.
Enhance grounding and protection vibes in my meditation space by consciously focusing attention on my sensory experiences as outlined in my article Using the 5 Senses to Create an Inviting Meditation Space.
Use salt to help reinforce boundaries around my home. I do this more clairvoyantly by picturing bowls of salt around the property corners of my home rather than physically placing bowls of salt in corners; both options work.
Create an altar on my doorstep and a few around my home to help set energy in the way that works for me by employing boundaries, flowing with healthy energetic shifts, and processing through love and nurturing. This helps filter out any energies that are not a match to my Highest Good.
Rest, spend time resting and making sure I get good amounts of sleep and general down time.
Reset any anxiety or feelings of being stretched too thin with the knowledge that this experience will start to subside within a few days after the upcoming holidays and that I will soon start to shift into a deeper period of rest as I prepare for Winter Solstice/Yule.
Doing all this work makes me feel safe to be vulnerable and open to appreciating the benefits this time of year affords.
I take time to remember loved ones who have passed and appreciate any visits from those who want to take a moment to connect. Some use pictures or momentos of their ancestors as that is a great way to invite and call their energy into our space. Personally, I just like to think of them and invite them over if they would like to visit and then trust in my extra-sensory abilities to alert me if their vibe shows up. Last night I was watching tv and noticed my dog being particularly alert when he would normally be sleeping. I took a little break, shifted my attention, and noticed a ring of beings over our house. Some I knew from this lifetime, many I didn’t, but I knew they were familiar and were there for me, my pup, and my partner as a way of checking in and just being closer, and also just somewhat curious to share this space with us.
Outwardly, I enjoy sharing the vibe of this year with others by doing a couple of things.
First, every year on the Saturday before Halloween, I speak at the Downieville Ghost Tour. I am invited to tell the story of how I met Josefa, the only woman hanged in the state of California. Read Josefa’s story by clicking here.
Second, over the years I’ve had a difficult relationship with the Halloween season, and now I really embrace this time of year. I’ve written a couple of articles about my experiences as a psychic medium and enjoy sharing my stories.
